This policy explains, in plain English, what information SafeHome UK collects, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. SafeHome UK is a record-keeping and documentation tool for housing issues — it does not provide legal advice.

What information we collect

When you use SafeHome UK, you may choose to provide:

  • Housing issue details (for example damp, mould or repairs)
  • Photographs and documents you upload as evidence
  • Communication records (emails, letters, portal messages, dates)
  • Health impact information you choose to record
  • Household vulnerability information you choose to record
  • Account details such as your email address

You decide what to enter. You are never required to record health or vulnerability information — it is optional and only used to strengthen your own case documentation.

Why we collect it

We use the information solely to build and maintain your Housing Complaint Case File and related documents — including your evidence register, timeline, communication history and follow-up complaints. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

How your information is stored

Your information is stored securely in our managed cloud database and file storage. Access is protected by authentication, and your case information is associated with your account. We apply access controls so that your records are only available to you when signed in.

How uploaded photographs are handled

Photographs you upload are stored as evidence within your own case file. They are used only to populate your documents (such as the photo appendix and evidence register). They are not shared publicly, sold, or used for any purpose other than building your case documentation. You can remove uploaded photographs from your case.

Whether your information is shared

SafeHome UK does not contact your landlord or any third party on your behalf, and does not share your case information with landlords, councils or other organisations. You remain in control: any document you generate is yours to send if and when you choose.

We use trusted service providers to run the platform (for example secure cloud hosting and payment processing). These providers only process information as needed to deliver the service and are bound by their own data protection obligations.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the information held in your account
  • Correct or update your information
  • Delete your information and account
  • Request a copy of the documents you have created
